Customer Service / Project Coordination Jobs in Oakland, CA at ALR
Title: Customer Service / Project Coordination
Company: ALR
Location: Oakland, CA
ALR is a Northern California based agency representing lighting and controls manufacturers. ALR was founded on the simple premise of providing the best possible customer service while operating with the utmost integrity. This has been the core philosophy of ALR for over 60 years and remains the cornerstone principle of our employee-owned company's culture.
At ALR we love our employees-owners, and we love our customers! We have several departments that work in small teams and collaborate with one another to get the job done. And the job is… selling lights; and we sell a lot of them! To do that, we have an exceptional team of sales folks, designers, quotations people and project management personnel.
We are looking for someone to join our Customer Service/Project Coordination team. Here, you will start with training and oversight but soon enough the reins are loosened, and you will be a contributing member to the team, making decisions that directly impact our performance. This is not for everyone, emails are coming in fast, phones are ringing, and team members are inquiring with you constantly. In addition, you are busy communicating with electrical distributors, factories, contractors, engineering firms and the like. This includes looking up product information, coordinating and confirming quantity of products along with cost of products so that orders are accurate. Utilizing our software, you will manage orders from the beginning when they are built at the factory until the end when they are delivered to the project site, and we are paid. During this whole process, things go wrong and when they do; you must have a willingness to step in and help the customer; it’s the essence of the job!
If you have energy, great memory recall and like numbers, then you're headed in the right direction. If you are a positive, organized person who thinks of the team first, then you're getting warmer. If you like solving problems and taking care of people, you’re almost there… and if you have an interest in construction/lighting related work, then this just may be the team for you. We figure the usual stuff is a given but just in case you’re wondering; we do want you to be ethical, hardworking and possess great communication skills. A four-year degree is great but not required. Prior experience in a construction related job or any professional job is beneficial, but it too is not required.
We have a long history of success, and we think we are a darn good team. We offer competitive compensation along with great medical coverage. We add in dental, vision reimbursement, life and long-term disability plans for our teammates and remember, we are employee owned. Our retirement plan has been a success because of our culture, our leadership and our team member’s hard work.
