Position Overview
The Junior Logistics Coordinator will play a key role in supporting dispatch operations, shipment visibility, trailer management, and customer service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in the transportation and logistics industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
- Perform tracking and tracing activities and proactively communicate shipment updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Manage and maintain trailer pool inventory and utilization.
- Enter and update transportation orders accurately within company systems.
- Support the dispatch team with daily operational requirements.
- Prepare and maintain operational reports and performance metrics.
- Investigate and resolve shipment-related issues in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with drivers, customers, carriers, and internal departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist with process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience in transportation, trucking, logistics, or supply chain operations is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive problem-solver with a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong customer service mindset.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
- Experience with:
- Pivot Tables
- VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
- Advanced formulas and data analysis
- Conditional formatting
- Dashboard creation and reporting
- Macros and basic VBA automation
- Experience with TMS (Transportation Management Systems) is considered an asset.
