Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Patient Services Representative to support our busy primary care clinic. This role is responsible for handling a high volume of inbound and outbound calls, verifying insurance and eligibility, scheduling appointments, and serving as a key communication link between patients, providers, and clinical staff. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment and delivers compassionate, efficient patient support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle 60–80 inbound and outbound calls per day, averaging 2–10 minutes per call depending on patient needs
  • Verify insurance coverage and patient eligibility prior to appointments
  • Check and communicate authorization status for services as needed
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments accurately
  • Take detailed messages and task communications to providers and clinic staff
  • Serve as backup coverage for the front office/reception area when staff are out
  • Provide professional, empathetic customer service to patients at all times
  • Maintain accurate documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems and internal tools
  • Adhere to HIPAA and clinic privacy policies

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 1+ year of experience in a medical office, call center, or healthcare customer service role
  • Experience with insurance verification and eligibility checks
  • Strong phone etiquette and clear verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a high-volume call environment
  • Basic computer proficiency and experience navigating scheduling and medical systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in primary care or multi-specialty clinics
  • Familiarity with authorizations and referrals
  • Experience covering front desk or reception duties
  • Knowledge of EHR systems (Epic or similar a plus)
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Covina, CA.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $21.00/hr.
