Job Purpose

The Assistant Quality Manager plays a key role in ensuring the effective execution of food safety and quality standards across the site. The role leads laboratory operations, environmental monitoring and audit readiness while managing a team of quality analysts. Working closely with production and cross-functional teams, the position drives compliance, operational discipline and continuous improvement in food safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploys TMICC Quality strategy, governance and goals through SU specific projects and targets,
  • Manage daily operations of microbiological and analytical laboratories, ensuring timely, accurate and reliable test results
  • Lead and supervise analyst teams,
  • Ensure effective implementation and sustainability of Food Safety and Quality Management Systems (HACCP, ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000, ISO9001)
  • Own and manage the Environmental Monitoring Program, including pathogen monitoring, trend analysis and escalation of risks
  • Monitor laboratory and environmental data, identify deviations and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, hygiene and sanitation standards across production areas through regular shopfloor presence
  • Plan and execute internal audits and follow up closure of findings
  • Coordinate and lead site readiness for customer, certification, second and third-party audits, including audit hosting and action management
  • Manage the pest control program in collaboration with service providers and ensure effectiveness through data review and site verification
  • Lead supplier quality activities,
  • Ensure proper sampling plans, test methods, equipment calibration and laboratory documentation compliance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in laboratory efficiency, food safety performance and compliance
  • Provide regular performance reporting and risk visibility to the Quality Manager
  • Support and promote a strong food safety and quality culture across the site through training and on-site coaching
  • Act as a key interface between Production, Engineering, Supply Chain and external stakeholders on laboratory and food safety matters

Experiences & Qualifications

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering fields, preferably food engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality, Food Safety or Laboratory functions within food / FMCG manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience in microbiological and analytical laboratory operations (sampling, testing, result interpretation, method follow-up)
  • Experience in managing environmental monitoring programs, including pathogen monitoring and trend analysis
  • Practical knowledge of Food Safety Management Systems (HACCP, ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000)
  • Experience in Quality Management Systems including non-conformance management, root cause analysis and CAPA processes
  • Proven experience in laboratory and shopfloor team managing
  • Experience in internal audit planning and execution
  • Experience in coordinating and hosting customer, certification, second and third-party audits
  • Hands-on experience in supplier quality management (incoming quality control, performance monitoring, issue follow-up)
  • Experience in pest control program management and hygiene verification activities
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret laboratory and process data and translate findings into actions
  • Good knowledge of food safety hazards, GMP, hygiene and sanitation practices
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with a high level of shopfloor presence
  • Proactive, detail-oriented and results-driven approach
  • Good command of English (written and spoken)
  • Advanced user of MS Office; experience with SAP and digital quality systems is an asset
